dehydrated okra

Dehydrating Okra

The garden is in full bloom and you have more okra than you know what to do with.
Rather than freeze it or give it away let's dehydrate it!

Dehydrated okra is useful in many ways. When re-hydrated it comes back with all of its slime and is great for frying. Dehydrated it's good in stews, soups and gumbos. Just throw what you want into the pot without re-hydrating. You can also dehydrate whole okra, soak in olive oil coat with salt or other seasonings.

screen dehydrator

No electricity No problem

If you have enough warm dry weather, you can dry foods on a screen in the sun. Set the screen on a couple blocks to allow air to circulate for faster drying times.
